Signature Submission Contest

Each month the top signature submitter is awarded a t-shirt as thanks for their support of the community. The rules for this contest are as follows:

 

1. Individuals are eligible whether working independently or  at the behest of their employer. Organizations or groups (more than one individual) are not eligible. A separate contest for organizations will be instituted if required. This contest is intended for individual competition.

2. The contest runs from midnight on the first of each month till midnight on the last day of each month US Eastern time. Timestamps recorded by the Emerging Threats email server will be considered official. A signature need not be committed to CVS during the contest period, only be submitted during the contest period.

3. Individuals may win once every six (6) months.

4. Once other prizes become available the user may select their preference. (coffee mugs and other goodies are coming)

5. Credit for a signature will be given for submission of a new signature, material modification to an existing signature, a false positive/negative report with enough specific information to fix the signature, or a report that causes a signature to be removed. A material modification may consist of:

   A credible and useful reference update or add

   Match parameters add, change, or remove

   Identifying and fixing signature duplicates

   Effectively combining similar signatures to improve performance

 

6. Signatures or modifications must be accepted and committed to CVS in order to be considered for credit. Committing to CVS is at the sole discretion of the ET Admin staff acting in the majority interest of the community.

7. Signatures should be submitted to the emerging-sigs mailing list, or directly if preferred to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Mailing list submission is preferred.

8. ET Staff will pay for shipping of the prize to reasonable locations. If shipping is unusually expensive the recipient must make arrangements to ship their prize (i.e. the winner is stationed at an antarctic research station, you know who you are)

9. A leaderboard will be maintained. Submitters are not required to participate in the contest.

10. All disputes will be settled by thumbwrestling contest or the ET Admin Staff. Staff rulings are final.
